My long story short...

  1. My name used to be Ashley Taylor and was legally changed to Layla Cross. My mom and siblings are pretty much the only people that call me Ashley.
  2. My faith is everything to me. I am a devout, unabashed christian.
  3. I am "completely and irrevocably in love" with my best friend and husband of 14 years. We have 5 really cool humans we get to call our children.
  4. I love getting lost in a good book. A good vampire book will make my knees weak every time, but I've also yet to meet a C.S. Lewis I can't keep on repeat.
  5. Black is my happy color.
  6. I played softball until I was 14. Watching my youngest daughter find her own love for it has been so nostalgic.
  7. Music is my love language and it is very versatile! My top 5 artist are Forrest Frank, Billy Raffoul, early 10's Lil Wayne, Adele, and Mumford and Sons.
  8. Before getting into photography, I ran an in-home daycare for 14 years. Even went to college to become an early childhood education teacher, and decided early on that would not be for me.
  9. I homeschool my older two children (integrating all next school year).
  10. Tim Burton is the man! The Nightmare Before Christmas is my favorite. Still need to see a couple of his masterpieces.
  11. I can't decide if chocolate with caramel is one of the best things ever invented or chocolate and nuts! Either way it goes chocolate is king of desserts. You can't convince me otherwise.

My standard in life is to be open, honest, and transparent because it makes life so much easier for everyone and it truly is such a beautiful way to live. With that said, my photography style is still developing, but my goal is for it to feel authentic and true to the experience while invoking emotion. I would love to hear your heart about who you are and what you want represented in your images. This will help me look for it in our time together. My superpowers that I mentioned above really allow me to be mindful of all those meaningful details. I will give prompts to help the experience along, because it's not every day that you have a camera following you around documenting your experiences. However, I will do my best to make the experience comfortable and natural. Being your hype man, as I capture your memories and accomplishments, is probably always going to be my favorite part of the storytelling experience.

xoxo,
